Rev. Lauren Hayes Efird :: Minister to Youth :: email
GFBC enjoys a lively, diversified ministry to youth, focusing on discipleship and faith development as well as lots of fun and fellowship. Lauren brings her talents, training and enthusiasm to lead this group in weekly get-togethers including Sunday evenings (the popular Alpha & Omega) and Wednesday evenings. Special events include Youth Sunday (when the youth take over Sunday School and worship, much to the congregation's enjoyment) plus mission events and retreats.
After receiving her Master's in Divinity from Duke Divinity School in 2009, Lauren completed a year of Clinical Pastoral Education as the Pediatric Chaplain Resident at UNC Hospitals, and later extended her education there as a Pediatric Chaplain Fellow. During her time at Duke, Lauren was a ministry intern and a worship team member at HomeStar Fellowship in Raleigh, affiliated with the Cooperative Baptist Fellowship. She was ordained as a minister by HomeStar Fellowship in 2010.
Lauren's call to this ministry started young, participating in the youth ministry at Emmanuel Baptist Church in Camden SC. She majored in Religion and Psychology at Campbell University. During college, she worked at the Boys and Girls Homes of NC in Lake Waccamaw, and also served as a student chaplain at WakeMed here in Cary.
Her husband Adam also graduated from Campbell University. They were married in 2009.
