Helen Bishop :: Organist

Helen has been our organist since 1999. She also plays the piano and flute and is the accompanist for the youth choir and the adult choir. She is a National Board Certified teacher and teaches band at Ligon Middle School. Helen was named the Band Director of the Year (2010) for The Central District Bandmasters Association.

Helen went to the University of Texas at Austin where she obtained a Master of Music in Flute Performance. She earned her Bachelor's of Music Education undergraduate degree at UNC in Chapel Hill. She has taught orchestra in Philadelphia and is the former conductor of the Triangle Youth Orchestra, and taught chorus as well as French in Johnston County.

Her weeks and weekends are filled with musical activities, all of which she truly enjoys. She is married to Bill Bishop and has two boys, Ryan and Eric, both of whom love playing their band instruments!
