The GFBC Sanctuary Choir is excited to present Ralph Vaughan Williams's Dona Nobis Pacem on Sunday, May 14, during 11am worship. This extended work for choir, soloists, strings, and piano is a moving musical meditation on living as God's people in the face of war and violence of all kinds. The words feature the poetry of Walt Whitman alongside biblical texts, and the music runs the gamut from mournful to dissonant and chaotic to irrepressibly joyful. Rev. Stacks will prepare us to hear the music by answering this question: what does this piece, written in the lead up to World War II, have to do with Mother's Day in 2017? Invite a friend and come experience a beautiful day of music and worship!
