Advent Devotional Day 26-December 22

The most frequent or prolific command in the Bible (from God to us) is to sing.  Ephesians 5:18-19 says that [we should] be filled with the Spirit, addressing one  another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, making melody to the Lord with all your heart.

My LOVE for music is one of the most precious gifts God has given to me.  It plays such an important part in our worship service but also enables me to feel closer to my mother and father in Heaven.  For years they led the singing in their 100-member class on Sundays.  Mother, a piano major, and Father, an electrical  engineer, always filled our home with music. When I play the piano now, it’s as if they are in the room with me! When I play hymns, I feel especially close to God.

Our worship services are emotional for me because the music fills my heart with LOVE and appreciation that God has given us so many talented musicians who can create and provide us with such wonderful experiences in many areas of life.  I pray that all of us will really listen to the music and its messages this Advent/Christmas season and feel the love from God that follows.
