Love is a prominent part of our Christmas tradition. It takes on many forms but is quite often difficult to put into words. It can be experienced in non-verbal ways and maybe when we are least aware, it is showing. Oh yes, we have cards with many loving sentiments, gifts that we pick out to show our feelings, parties with much gaiety and laughter, preparing of food, decorating our homes, but also a touch or a smile even the tone of your voice sends a message.
The Love chapter in Corinthians reminds us that if (all of this) is not inspired by God’s love, we are only a noisy gongs or clanging cymbals. We love him, because he first loved us. (1 John 4:19)
Let us continue to show love as Mahatma Gandhi reminds us “Where there is love, there is life.” Our celebrating can be an affirmation of God’s love to all humankind when we remember why we live and LOVE.
