I’ve got that joy, joy, joy, joy down in my heart, down in my heart, down in my heart!
I’ve got that joy, joy, joy, joy down in my heart, down in my heart to stay!
And I’m so happy, so very happy, I’ve got the love of Jesus in my heart!
Joy in the Ordinary
Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus. I Thessalonians 5:18
God gives us gifts of joy every day. Those gifts may look a bit different to each of us, but they are there when we take the time to look and appreciate. For me I can find that joy in a cool summer breeze, a beautiful sunrise, the sound of laughter, a morning run, and the purr of my cat, Sienna. God wants us to feel his presence in things both big and small. During this Advent season, let us remember to slow down, open our eyes, open our hearts, and experience the Joy of God in the ordinary.
Joy in Suffering and Pain
When anxiety was great within me, your consolation brought me joy. Psalm 94:19
It has been said that joy is not based on our circumstances, but on our ability to be thankful. Thankful in the everyday, thankful in the extraordinary, thankful that God is with us along our journey, and thankful for the greatest gift of all, Christ Jesus, who came into this world and took on our suffering and pain so that through him we will one day know life with no suffering or pain.
Joy Is Contagious
You make known to me the path of life; you will fill me with joy in your presence, with eternal pleasures at your right hand. Psalm 16:11
A smile is contagious; so is laughter. Is it any wonder? Both are outward expressions of joy, and joy is contagious! Lord, help me to live my life in such a way that joy spills out of me and into the people around me, not just those people I know and love, but everyday people I encounter through the living of my life. As we celebrate the coming of the Christ child, let us show our joy to the world, so that through us others may know God.
Joy Is God
And the angel said to them, “Fear not, for behold, I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all the people.” Luke 2:10
During this holy season, my wish for you is a joy that endures, a joy that transcends, the joy that is found in Christ Jesus.
