Trusting, waiting and looking forward are constant companions for parents and grandparents when news comes that a baby is on the way. In the life of the church, Advent is a time of expectant waiting and watching as we prepare to celebrate the coming of the Messiah. In Luke 2:10, we read, But the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid. I bring you good news that will cause great joy for all the people.”
Joy-an unexplainable happiness that can never be equaled by anything in the world. Joy-the kind you experience with the miracle of new life. Joy-as our attention turns to celebration. Joy to the world, the Lord has come.
Jeremy Bedenbaugh wrote, “We look back with joy and wonder that God would come into the world, and we look forward to his return, expecting the great unceasing joy that he has promised us!”
