What is HOPE?
HOPE is a missions organization for women.
We are not a group restricted by age, labels or traditions but one with a common goal -- Helping Others Pursue Eternity.
Our prayer is that we will not only meet physical needs but that we will also share the love of Jesus Christ with those who do not know of his love.
Many times during our Mission Action projects, we have found that sharing a simple hug and letting someone know we care makes a powerful statement.
Current Project
HOPE of GFBC will sponsor “Hope Elementary Charter School” during the month of May.
We will collect monetary donations to buy classroom sets of 17 paperback books as well as other items needed in the classroom and by the students. Pick a tag off our “Hope Giving Tree” for a specific item to purchase or select a monetary amount to help us buy classroom books.
Items can be dropped off in the HOPE box near the “Hope Giving Tree” in the office hallway May 4-25, 2008. Monetary contributions (checks made payable to HOPE) can be placed in the HOPE box inside the church office May 4-25, 2008.

Yearly Outline
We divide our year into four sessions that are two to three months long. We support a different agency or charity each session. At the first meeting of a session, we invite a speaker from the agency to talk with us about the needs of the people they represent and how we can get involved. The second meeting is our planning meeting where we plan the specific details of the mission action project that will be carried out the third month. During each session, we utilize our HOPE members by having those interested work on a Coordination Team for the current session's project while other volunteers work to carry out the mission action project.
Literature
Missions Mosaic is the magazine published monthly for Women on Mission by Woman's Missionary Union (WMU), an Auxiliary to the Southern Baptist Convention. GFBC subscribes to the magazine for all members who wish to receive it. While we do not use the magazines at our meetings, it is an excellent magazine, and I encourage you to receive it and use the articles for your time of devotion at home. We do, however, pray for the missionaries on their birthdays at our meetings. These birthdays are listed in the daily Prayer Calendar at the back of the magazine. The missionaries from the Cooperative Baptist Fellowship (CBF) are also recognized and included in this prayer time. The names of these missionaries can be found in the CBF Year-long Guide to Global Missions Praying, Water for Life, that is included in our yearly HOPE packets. We promote the activities of the Raleigh Baptist Association (RBA), Woman's Missionary Union (WMU), and Cooperative Baptist Fellowship (CBF).
Newsletters
Newsletters are distributed and posted throughout the church at the beginning of each session. This tool is used to keep members informed of projects, collections and dates in the event that meetings are missed.
