Royal Ambassadors - RAs
Royal Ambassadors is a mission education opportunity for boys in the 1st through 5th grade. The Royal Ambassador's purpose is to help boys learn about what missionaries do, how they live and the culture of different communities around the world. In addition to learning about missionaries and their locations, they also have the chance to participate in mission activities.
Listen to the Testimony about RAs. Speakers are Wes Smith, RA leader, and boys Austin and Nathaniel. Excerpted from Dec. 9, 2007 11am service.
Typical activities include:
- A father/son weekend camping trip during the fall.
- A weekend spring retreat to places like Camp Caraway or Fort Caswell.
- Raising money for a foreign mission by racing cars, boats or line gliders. The boys build the racers with help from their leaders and parents. The race is held on a Wednesday night in the Spring.
- Participate in the Cary/Apex Crop Walk on the first Sunday in October. Money pledged for walking the course is used to alleviate hunger locally and worldwide.
The leaders are often the fathers of the boys, promoting family relationships and fellowship.
Men have a unique opportunity to lead by example and demonstrate a Christ-like behavior.
