Wes is passionate about the intersection of missions and spiritual formation, especially with young people. He wants to explore what exciting roles the church can play in the wider community and find out who God wants us to be as a community of faith in the coming years, especially by caring for and nurturing new and future generations of Christians.
Originally from Franklin, Tennessee, Wes first found his way to North Carolina via Duke Divinity School. During divinity school, he pursued a Concentration in Christian Education and a Certificate in Baptist Studies. At the same time, Wes served in various capacities at the Society of St. Andrew, First Baptist Church in Henderson, North Carolina, and Union Grove United Methodist Church in Bahama, North Carolina. Wes also earned his bachelor's degree in Birmingham at Samford University. While earning his degree in religion and classical studies, Wes began preaching in rural Baptist churches as part of the Samford Sunday pulpit exchange program as well as serving for a time as the Worship Coordinator for the University Ministries.
Wes and his wife, Meg, in their free time love watching movies (too often Star Wars at Wes' insistence), enjoying quality television (here they compromise over fun comedies and intense dramas), and making and appreciating good food (where there is unanimous agreement).
