Stop Hunger Now!

February 1 (First Wednesday) - Rod Brooks, CEO and President of Stop Hunger Now, will talk about packaging meals and the ministries of Stop Hunger Now.


Package Meals on February 11 - We are partnering with Cary Central Rotary Club to package meals that will provide sustenance for needy people in poorly developed and natural disaster-devastated countries.


This is a family friendly project for all ages. No prior experience is necessary. Tasks include: assembling bags of dried food, weighing the bags, sealing the bags, labeling bags, packing the completed meals into boxes, and more. Some tasks are standing, some are seated. The youth will participate with us as a component of their 30-Hour Famine weekend.


Sign-up sheets will be available beginning this Wednesday and again on Sundays in the Narthex as well as our bulletin boards. We will begin by 8:30am and anticipate completing the activity by mid-afternoon. You can come and work all day or a one or two-hour shift. We will have lots of fun during this Saturday event. Sign up!


This project is being funded through the Christmas Bazaar receipts.

  • Ladies' Tea - All ladies and girls are invited to tea on Sunday, February 12 in Fellowship Hall immediatedly following the 11am worship service. Bring your family and friends. You may also bring your favorite tea cup and tea party hat. Reserve your cup of tea online at Ladies Tea by February 5.

  • Spirit Night at Chil-fil-A at Waverly Place - Have dinner at Chick-fil-A on Thursday, January 26 from 5pm to 8pm. Identify yourself as part of the GFBC Spirit Night when you order and a portion of each sale will go directly to the church.

  • Draft Logos - Drafts of a logo design can be accessed here. Note that the tag line on the horizontal versions is just a place holder. We'll include our own tag line chosen from those submitted for the contest. Send comments to Rick Hoyle or Elise Atkins.

Mission Spotlight

  • Youth Day of Fasting - GFBC Youth will be participating in a Day of Fasting on February 12. They will spend the day fasting, praying, worshipping and learning about poverty in Cary. They will also be collecting toliet paper for the Dorcas Ministries after the worship service. Please bring packages of toilet paper to church on February 12. Youth will be available to help carry the packages from your car. The parlor is the drop off point your donations.

  • English as a second language- Classes are held each Sunday from 9:45 am to 10:45 am and Wednesday from 6pm to 7pm in the Conference Room across from the Church Office. The class uses Bible verses, songs, life examples, and chants. Please contact Bill Buisch at 447-2771 for more information. There is no cost for this class.
